Effects of Relative Humidity on Zinc Absorption

The wet young leaf absorbs zinc from the zinc-laden spray droplet. Relative humidity has a great effect on foliar absorption of zinc. Leaves dry quickly in the low humidity of Far West Texas; absorption ceases when the spray dries. Along the Gulf Coast, absorption can be extended as drying takes longer. Zinc should not be concentrated to 2X or 4X rates because foliage burn can result during periods of high humidity. The use of spreaders is not recommended because they can result in accelerated drying and reduced zinc absorption.
