Good Agitation is Important in Applying Dormant Oil
Sufficient agitation of the oil in the sprayer tank is important. Because oil does not dissolve in water, it must be mixed under strong agitation. If the oil is allowed to separate from the water, some trees will not receive enough oil, while other trees will receive too much. Since trees must breathe just as insects must, a rate of oil exceeding the recommended concentration may result in tree or limb death by suffocation.
